The Science China Materials Innovation Forum was successfully held in Nanchang from March 21 to 24. Co-organized by Science China Press, Jiangxi Provincial Key Laboratory of Thin-Film Energy Chemistry at Nanchang University, Key Laboratory of Fluorosilicon Energy Materials and Chemistry of the Ministry of Education at Jiangxi Normal University, and the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Gannan Normal University, the forum centered on the theme “Thin-Film Energy Chemistry”.

Chaired jointly by Academician Xie Yi, Editor-in-Chief of Science China Materials, and Professor Chen Yiwang, Editorial Board Member, the forum invited more than 40 experts to deliver presentations and join academic discussions. Faculty and students engaged in thin-film energy chemistry and related disciplines from Nanchang University, Jiangxi Normal University and Gannan Normal University attended the event. The forum featured inspiring lectures and vibrant academic exchanges.
At the opening ceremony, on behalf of the editorial board and editorial office, Academician Xie Yi expressed gratitude to Professor Chen Yiwang, President of Gannan Normal University, as well as researchers from his teams at Nanchang University, Jiangxi Normal University and Gannan Normal University for their great efforts to ensure the smooth running of the forum. She also thanked all invited experts for their participation and support. In addition, she briefed the audience on the development of Science China Materials and the objectives of the forum. She emphasized that Science China Materials has long taken it as a social responsibility to inspire academic innovation and advance disciplinary development. As a vital research direction bridging materials science and energy research, thin-film energy chemistry boasts enormous potential and promising prospects. She hoped that all participating scholars could gain fruitful insights from the forum and foster more innovative ideas and collaborative opportunities.

During the forum, distinguished scholars including Academician Li Yongfang, Professor Chen Yongsheng, Professor Zhan Xiaowei, Researcher Hou Jianhui, Professor Huang Yunhui, Professor Wei Zidong, Professor Liu Feng, Professor Meng Qingbo, Professor Liu Shengzhong, Researcher Li Feng, Researcher Zhang Jun and Professor Chen Junwu, Professor Qiu Jieshan delivered excellent talks covering research frontiers of thin-film energy chemistry. Their presentations focused on organic photovoltaics, perovskite solar cells, electrocatalysis, photocatalysis, rechargeable batteries and other cutting-edge directions, followed by intensive discussions and interactions with attendees.

Professor Chen Yiwang delivered the closing remarks at the closing ceremony. He first thanked all invited speakers for their elaborate preparations, which brought attendees a remarkable academic feast. Furthermore, he encouraged participating scholars to continue supporting Science China Materials via manuscript submission, peer review and journal promotion, so as to jointly boost innovation and progress in materials science.
