News Brief (Office of Science and Technology): Recently, a key project under the National Key R&D Program—“Strategic International Scientific and Technological Innovation Cooperation” initiative—led by Professor Chen Yiwang of our university has been officially approved. This project features interdisciplinary integration across energy chemistry, materials science, and other fields, highlighting the university’s distinctive strengths in research on new energy and energy storage technologies.

Under the leadership of Professor Chen Yiwang, the Institute of Polymer and Energy Chemistry at our university has been conducting research on flexible energy conversion and storage devices. The team has achieved original and pioneering results in several areas, including wet-printing fabrication of novel flexible solar cells, development of organosilicon elastomer encapsulation materials, and aqueous wide-voltage supercapacitors. Building upon these cutting-edge research achievements, Professor Chen has swiftly advanced industrialization efforts. As the chief scientist, he co-founded Jiujiang Ruoshuo Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd., which has successfully completed its angel funding round. The company has already established a 10 kW demonstration power station and is now constructing a 10 MW pilot production line, with plans underway for a 100 MW-capacity flexible perovskite photovoltaic manufacturing line.

Professor Chen Yiwang, as the first contributor, has received numerous prestigious awards, including the First Prize of Jiangxi Provincial Natural Science Award, the Second Prize of the Ministry of Education’s Natural Science Award, the Gold Medal at the Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions, the First Prize of the China Invention Association’s Innovation Award, and the China Industry-University-Research Collaboration Innovation Award. He was also named to Clarivate’s 2024 Highly Cited Researchers list. Additionally, this year Professor Chen serves as the principal investigator of another key project under the National Key R&D Program. Dr. Hu Xiaotian, a young faculty member at the Institute of Polymer and Energy Chemistry, is participating as a core team member in another National Key R&D Program project.
