Prof. Yiwang Chen

Dr. Yiwang Chen was born in 1970. Now he is holding professor position in Nanchang University. He earned a Ph.D in Polymeric Chemistry and Physics from Peking University's College of Chemistry in 1999. His dissertation "title" addressed synthesis and properties of bi-functional photorefractive polymers. In 1992, he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Chemistry Department of Jiangxi Normal University, Nanchang, China. Consequently he completed his Master of Science degree in same deparment of Jiangxi Normal University in 1995 with waiving entrance examinations. Afterwards he spent one year career as lecturer in Chemistry Department of Nanchang University, Nanchang, in 1996. Upon Ph.D graduation he was awarded the Graduate Education Fund of China Construction Bank Hubei Branch in Peking University. The following year he then moved to Germany where he worked in a postdoctoral position as awarded an Alexander von Humboldt fellowship at Institute of Organic Chemistry, University of Mainz. His research involved the synthesis of aromatic/aliphatic liquid crystalline copolyesters as orthopaedic applications. From 2001, He moved to the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry of Philipps-University Marburg to continue the topic of copolyesters as biomedical applications with a Long-term cooperation project supported by Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. Since June of 2003, he has joined in National University of Singapore as a faculty member. Dr. Chen has been shortly in ETH of Switzerland, HKUST of Hongkong, and JKU of Austria as visiting professor. From March of 2004, he turns to a professor and Ph. D supervisor in Nanchang University. Dr. Chen has been honored number of titles and awards during past years. Dr. Chen is the council member of Chinese Chemical Society and standing director of The Jiangxi Society of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering.  His research project regarding photorefractive polymers has been awarded “second class prize of science and technology in universities of China” in 2001. The results on polymer solar cells have been awarded twice with the 2nd Class Prize of Natural Science in Jiangxi Province in 2007 and 2012 (Rank 1). Meanwhile he has obtained the 3rd Class Prize of Technological Invention in Jiangxi Province in 2011 (Rank 1). So far he has more than 80 papers published in international journals with high impact factor, such as Chemistry of Materials, Macromolecules, Advanced Functional Materials, ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, Polymer Chemistry, Journal of Physical Chemistry C, Biomacromolecules, Journal of Materials Chemistry, and so on. He has been invited to address speeches more than 20 times in Singapore, Frankfurt, Changchun, and Beijing. Since 2003, he has started to review papers for Macromolecules and Chemistry of Materials. His main research interests have ever been focused on many fields such as polymer solar cells, direct methanol fuel cells, and polyelectrolytes lithium ions batteries.
